View answerThe Teaching Council is the independent regulatory body for the teaching profession which maintains the register of teachers in the State.
Completion of the SCG (An Scrúdú le hAghaidh Cáilíochta sa Ghaeilge) is accepted by the Teaching Council as evidence that a teacher who qualified abroad has addressed the Irish Language Condition for registration purposes.The SCG is administered by Marino Institute of Education (MIE).
My Department is not aware of any changes planned in relation to the SCG examination.
