590. Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the estimated saving in each of the years since the inception of sections 13 and 14 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2013. [23132/18]
View answerSections 13 and 14 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2013 introduced the Recovery of Benefits and Assistance scheme which enables my Department to recover the value of certain illness-related social welfare payments from compensation awards made to persons as a consequence of personal injuries claims. The benefits are recovered from the compensator and not from the injured person.
The scheme commenced on 1 August 2014 and the amounts recovered are as follows:
