Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the protections in place to prevent the monopolisation of farm or agricultural land that has the effect of significantly limiting the capacity of small and medium sized farms to expand (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are no statutory restrictions in place on the sale of land.  The former Irish Land Commission was abolished under the Irish Land Commission Dissolution Act, 1992 and there are no plans to re-establish such a commission.
