Durkan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality further to Parliamentary Question No. 167 of 28 June 2018, if the assault of a person (details supplied) has been further investigated; if charges are pending in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe Deputy will appreciate that it is the Garda Commissioner and his management team who are responsible for the investigation of criminal matters and I, as Minister, have no role in this regard.
However, I am advised by the Garda authorities that the incident referred to remains under investigation by An Garda Síochána. The Deputy will appreciate that as this is the subject of an ongoing Garda investigation, I do not propose to comment any further on the matter.
