609. Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice asked the Minister for Health his plans to grant a full medical card to all those over 80 years of age in view of the fact that 10% of those over 80 do not have a medical card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35592/18]

I am committed to ensuring that we have a medical card system that is responsive and considerate to people's needs and circumstances. Any requests to amend the coverage of medical cards may be considered by the Government in the context of the annual Budget process.
