258. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if he will approach the lending institutions with a view to the temporary cessation of home repossessions in order to reduce the number of applicants being forced onto the local authority waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, I have no role or function in the regulation or policy making in relation to the banking sector. Regulation of banking and financial services comes within the remit of my colleague, the Minister for Finance.
