Catherine Martin

Question:

250. All initial teacher education programmes, including the development of any streamlined programme as referred to by the Deputy, that lead to registration must have professional accreditation from the Teaching Council, based on the Council's review and accreditation strategy and its accreditation criteria.

Accordingly, it would be a matter for the HEI developing the programme to obtain professional accreditation from the Council.

In the circumstances referred to by the Deputy, the issue of duplicate modules or recognition of prior learning would be considered as part of the overall process for the development of such programmes.
