View answerThe Terms and Conditions relating to minimum educational qualifications for school leavers/non graduates applying for an Army Cadetship in the 2018 competition included the specific requirement for Leaving Certificate results to be obtained in a single sitting. This requirement has been included in the Terms and Conditions for the Cadetship competitions for a significant period of time.
A candidate who applied for a cadetship in the Army in 2018 initiated legal proceedings by way of a Judicial Review in the High Court.
The Court is due to give a reasoned judgment on 13 November 2018. The judgment will be considered at that time and will inform further action by the Department of Defence.
