A scientific survey of deer numbers was carried out in Glenveagh National Park in 2017. The area of the national Park is approximately 39,000 acres. There was a maximum population estimate of 429 Red deer within the fenced area of 19,000 acres approx.

No scientific counts were carried out in 2016 or 2018 to date but it is assumed numbers are very close to the 2017 estimates.
