Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the number of complaints submitted to his Department in 2017, 2018 and to date in 2019; the number of appeals made with respect to the outcome of such complaints; the number referred to the Office of the Ombudsman; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is very conscious of the need to provide the highest level of service to our customers and is committed to ensuring that the 12 principles of Quality Customer Service are embedded in everything we do. The number of complaints received in the years in question is shown in the following table.

The complaints in question have been addressed by the Department’s Quality Service Officer. To the knowledge of my Department, none of the complaints listed in the table have been referred to the Office of the Ombudsman to date.
