577. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Justice and Equality further to Parliamentary Question No. 206 of 12 March 2019, if only two cases are under active consideration by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal. [14137/19]
View answerAs outlined in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 206 of 12 March, two General Scheme Compensation applications have been assigned to Members for direction on how to proceed with the cases. This does not reflect the overall number of cases which are under active consideration by the Tribunal. So far this year the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal has received 72 applications (41 under the Scheme of Compensation for Personal Injuries Criminally Inflicted and 31 under the Scheme of Compensation for Personal Injuries Criminally Inflicted on Prison Officers). These applications, as well as those on hand before the start of the year, continue to be progressed to a point where they can be submitted to a member for decision.
