Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if consideration has been given to differentiating between minor faults and major faults in the taxi suitability test such as with the NCT in circumstances in which a minor fault such as a blown bulb would not require a full retest and associated charges; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including setting the regulations for vehicle standards and suitability, is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013.
