Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Minister for Education and Skills if the capital project at the Institute of Technology Tallaght has commenced; if so, the stage the project is at; when the project is expected to go out for tender; when construction will commence; when the project will be completed; the estimated cost of the project; the amount spent to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Planning permission for the Sports Science, Health & Recreation Building at TU Dublin Tallaght Campus has been granted.  The Institute has recently received approval to proceed to tender.  Construction will commence after the tender process has been completed.   

The total project cost is estimated in the region of €14.7m with €559,000 in exchequer funding drawn down to date.
