Deputy Hildegarde Naughton asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the lighting on Inis Oírr pier, Aran Islands, County Galway has not been working for several weeks; if a request has been received from Galway County Council for funding in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government

My Department does not allocate specific funding towards the management and maintenance of public lighting as this is a matter for each individual local authority. Galway County Council, being the Harbour Authority for Inis Oírr Harbour, is responsible for the maintenance of the lighting at the pier. I, as Minister, have no function in this regard.
