Deputy John Brady asked the Minister for Education and Skills if additional funding will be provided to allow for further temporary prefab accommodation for a school (details supplied) to be implemented in advance of the new school term in September 2020 to accommodate students in the local area that were unsuccessful in getting a secondary school place. View answerAs the Deputy may be aware, a major building project to provide an extension to the school in question is included in my Department's building programme to be delivered as part of the National Development Plan (NDP) Construction Programme.
In this regard, the procurement of the Design Team to deliver the project has commenced.
I wish to advise the Deputy that my Department approved a grant to the school's patron in 2019 for the provision of interim accommodation and the patron has advised that the accommodation was installed in January 2020.
My Department has no record of receiving any further application for additional accommodation from the Patron of the school.
