393. Deputy John Brady asked the Minister for Education and Skills the stage her plans are at to provide a secondary school in Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow; the proposed location; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13904/20]
View answerAs the Deputy may be aware, a major building project at the existing post primary school, Coláiste Chraobh Abhann , Kilcoole, Co.Wicklow is included in my Department's building programme to be delivered as part of the National Development Plan (NDP). The project is at preliminary design stage. When the project is completed, the school will have capacity to accommodate 1,000 pupils. In tandem with this, my Department is finalising the acquisition of additional site area for the development.
Newtownmountkennedy is located in the Kilcoole school planning area and it is intended that the building project at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann will meet the post primary accommodation needs in this school planning area.
