100. Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Defence the time frame for the proposed consultation process that will be undertaken prior to the finalisation of the commission on the future of defence terms of reference; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23028/20]
View answerThe Programme for Government provides for the establishment of an independent Commission on the Defence Forces.
The Commission is to be established before the end of this year, with a mandate to report within twelve months. Planning for the Commission is in the early stages and no final decisions have yet been taken to date on the consultation process.
I am working to ensure that the Commission is established as early as possible before the end of this year.
