261. Deputy Richard O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the persons eligible for the young farmers scheme in 2020; the percentage variance from 2019 to 2020; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31852/20]
View answerTo-date some 7,700 applications have been received under the 2020 Young Farmers Scheme. These applications are currently being processed by my Department and payments under the scheme are scheduled to commence in early December 2020. The number of eligible applicants under the scheme in 2020 and the percentage variance from 2019 to 2020 will not be available until the required administrative and on-farm checks have been completed on all 2020 applications.
