My Department provides funding to the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) as a principal search and rescue emergency service. The majority of current spend is on the IRCG Helicopter contract currently held by CHCI DAC. Some funding is also provided to support other third party organisations involved in SAR activities including the Mountain and Cave Rescue Teams, Mountain Rescue Ireland, the Community Inshore Rescue Boat teams and Dublin Fire Brigade. The bulk of capital expenditure relates to programme spend by the Irish Coast Guard, including provision for a building programme, IT upgrades, vehicle and boat fleet renewal, pollution equipment and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure.
