Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Education her plans to address the needs of the pupils who currently attend a unit at a school (details supplied) considering the plans to close this unit in 2021; if she will examine the feasibility to keep this unit open; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Enabling children with special educational needs to receive an education appropriate to their needs is a priority for this Government.

I can assure the Deputy that my Department is in ongoing contact with the school authority regarding this matter.
