Questions (669)

Willie O'Dea

Question:

669. Deputy Willie O'Dea asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the most recent national treatment purchase fund figures show that 5,545 persons were on the University Hospital Limerick outpatient eye care waiting list which is an increase of over 1,000 since the end of 2019 and 2,754 are now waiting more than 18 months at the hospital, an increase from 2,191 at the end of 2019; if he will extend the successful Sligo scheme in the north west to UHL in view of these extremely long waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
