Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Health if there was political involvement in the decision to purchase ventilators from a company (details supplied); if he signed off on the deal at the time; and the due diligence carried out on the company in question prior to awarding a contract. The then-Minister for Health, Simon Harris T.D., had no involvement in the procurement of ventilators from the company in question. As procurement of medical equipment is a matter for the Health Service Executive (HSE), I have requested that the HSE respond to the Deputy directly on the latter part of the question.
