Questions (531)

Neasa Hourigan

Question:

531. Deputy Neasa Hourigan asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will provide a clear, timelined plan for the Office of Public Works to address the structural problems in the sea wall in Roche's Point, Cork, in order to provide local residents with assurance that further storm damage will not leave their properties at risk; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised it is a matter for Local Authorities in the first instance to assess and address problems of coastal erosion in their areas.  Where necessary, Local Authorities may put forward proposals to relevant central Government Departments, including the Office of Public Works, for funding of appropriate measures depending on the infrastructure or assets under threat.  There is no application on hand for the location mentioned in the Deputy’s question.
