Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth the reason force majeure was not allowed in respect of early years payments for dates a service (details supplied) in County Kerry had to close due to a significant Covid-19 outbreak; if the decision will be reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Pobal, the administrator of my Department's childcare funding programmes, are also responsible for Force Majeure applications.

Pobal have informed my Department that further documentation was requested from the service referred to by the Deputy in relation to their force majeure application. This has now been received and the application for Force Majeure has been approved.
