372. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice if an extension will be facilitated in the case of a person (details supplied); when an extension will issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [34223/21]
View answerThe person referred to by the Deputy was issued a visa sticker on 30 October 2020, in the Kuala Lumpur Visa Office. If the person was unable to travel to the State during the validity period of their entry visa, due to travel restrictions, they should contact the Embassy or Consulate that issued their visa outlining their circumstances. They will need to apply for a new visa and each case is examined on an individual basis.
The general policy against non-essential travel remains and all travellers arriving into Ireland must comply fully with the public health measures required by law. These include completing a COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form, pre-arrival PCR test and quarantine in a designated facility or at home.
Queries in relation to the status of individual immigration cases may be made directly to my Department by e-mail using the Oireachtas Mail facility (inisoireachtasmail@justice.ie), which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Questions process. The Deputy may consider using the e-mail service except in cases where the response is, in the Deputy’s view, inadequate or too long awaited.
