Questions (573)

Richard Bruton

Question:

573. Deputy Richard Bruton asked the Minister for Health if supports are available without household income means tests for a severely disabled person to install equipment such as a full lift in cases in which the only way in which they can live independently is by being with a member of their wider family and in which a means test on other household income would be unfairly restricting their options. The only funding avenue for an adaptation of the kind mentioned in the question is the Housing Adaptation Grant, which is under the remit of the Department for Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Neither the Department of Health nor the HSE offer funding of this nature.
