View answerUnder the Minerals Development Acts 1940 to 1999, my Department is responsible for the regulation of mineral exploration and mining. The Department has no function in respect of the regulation of quarries which is a matter for each relevant local authority under planning legislation which comes within the remit of the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
