375. Deputy Steven Matthews asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if his attention has been drawn to the campaign organised by a number of trade unions seeking greater supports for those who work in the community and voluntary sectors which includes calls for pay increases and the establishment of a collective bargaining forum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It should be noted that Community and Voluntary sector organisations are not public service bodies and their employees are not public servants. Accordingly, my Department does not have a direct role in relation to these workers as their terms and conditions of employment are a matter for the relevant private sector employers in the first instance.
