The Minister for Health has no role in the approval of changes to civil service payscales which are approved by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. Building Momentum provided for an increase to certain civil service payscales on 01 October 2021 and this was applied by DPER to all relevant payscales on that date. All civil service payscales will increase on 01 February 2022 by 1% under the Sectoral Bargaining provisions (Chapter 2) of the agreement. Reflecting this adjustment, the rate for the post of Secretary General in the Department of Health with effect from 01 February 2022 is €297,869 (PPC).
