264. Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason that the original passport book was sought from the parent (details supplied) of a minor for a passport application considering that photocopies of both parents’ passports were submitted initially with the supporting documents; the sequence of events in relation to this application which resulted in it being deemed expired rather than it being processed considering that it was received by the Passport Office on 15 October 2021; and if he will make a statement on the matter. With regard to the specific application about which the Deputy has enquired, the Passport Service regrets any errors in processing this application. The Passport Service is in direct contact with the applicant's parent in relation to progressing their passport application.
