207. Deputy Richard Bruton asked the Minister for Transport if arrangements will be made that public transport companies publish route performance data to provide greater transparency to customers covering matters such as passenger numbers, adherence to schedule, capacity and so on. [28738/22]
View answerAs Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger transport services nationally and for the monitoring of those services. In addition, the collection and publication of statistics relating to public transport also falls under the remit of the NTA.
In light of the Authority's responsibility in this area, I have forwarded the Deputy's specific question in relation to the publication of route performance to provide greater transparency to customers in relation to passenger numbers, adherence to schedule, capacity and such matters, to the NTA for direct reply.
