Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the number of former county managers or CEOs of local authorities who are currently employed on a freelance basis or otherwise to carry out works for local authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not hold the information requested.

Under Section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001, each Chief Executive is responsible for the staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authority for which he or she is responsible.

The information should be available from each local authority.
