Deputy John Brady asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth the number of childcare practices in County Wicklow providing the early childhood care and education scheme for each of the years 2017 to 2021 and to date in 2022; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programme is universally available free to all children within the eligible age range. It provides children with their first formal experience of early learning prior to commencing primary school.

The table below outlines the number of services offering the ECCE programme in County Wicklow for each of the years 2017 to 2021 and to date in 2022. The data was supplied by Pobal who are the administrators of the ECCE programme on behalf of my Department.
