471. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the total amount collected by way of dividend from commercial semi-State companies in each of the past five years to date, by amount and company, in tabular form; the policy in respect of dividend payments to the Exchequer from commercial semi-State bodies; the way in which dividends are redistributed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform

Due to the nature of its role, my Department has no commercial semi-State companies under its aegis and the bodies under its aegis do not pay dividends to it.  The Deputy may wish to note that a number of the bodies in question are funded through their own Votes and the remainder are either grant funded or self-funded.
