270. Deputy Emer Higgins asked the Minister for Education the current average pupil-teacher ratio for mainstream classes in primary schools, not including special educational needs classes; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [46430/22]
View answerThe pupil-teacher ratio for mainstream classes in primary schools in 2021/2022, the most recent year for which we have data, was 22.8. This figure only accounts for mainstream teachers in mainstream classes, and special education teachers working in mainstream classrooms are excluded.
