Questions (69)

Fergus O'Dowd

Question:

69. Deputy Fergus O'Dowd asked the Minister for Transport if he will directly intervene and press for the Road Safety Authority to commit to a permanent driver test centre for Drogheda considering the fact that Drogheda is the largest town in Ireland along with the longest wait times in the country which is completely unacceptable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under legislation, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) is the body responsible for the operation of the Driving Test.

This is an operational matter for the RSA and I do not have any role in this process. This question is therefore being referred to the Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 51
