318. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the number of homeless HAP applications on a leased property, per county, in each of the years 2016 to 2021 and to date in 2022, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [48563/22]
View answerThe Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) is a form of social housing support for people who have a long-term housing need. Under HAP, households at risk of homelessness may be eligible for additional supports. To qualify for specific additional supports available to homeless households, a household must have been determined by the relevant local authority to be homeless within the meaning of section 2 of the Housing Act 1988. The operation of local homeless services is a matter for each local authority.
Details of the number of Homeless HAP tenancies set up per local authority for 2016 to 2021 and up to the end of Q2 2022 are set out in the table below.
