Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if he will consider retroactively applying the €120/MWh cap on renewable electricity generation and €180/MWh cap on other inframarginal generation, as is being done by Belgium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Ireland will be applying the cap in line with Council Regulation (EU) 2022/1854 of 6 October 2022 on an emergency intervention to address high energy prices, which does not provide for retroactively applying the cap.
