As the driving theory test is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority this question is being referred to the RSA for direct reply.

I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 51.
I am writing to you concerning your Parliamentary Question:
Dail Question No: 223 To ask the Minister for Transport the reason that the RSA driver theory test does not provide full result details to those who are sitting the test; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Minister has referred the Parliamentary Question to my Office for response and the detail is set out below.
When a candidate fails the theory test they receive a printout of their score report which gives details of how many questions they answered incorrectly in each section so the candidate can see what sections they need to revise ahead of their re-test. The reason the exact question is not shared is so that the candidate will revise the section that they preformed poorly on rather than learning the answer to the specific question they got wrong.
There is also a facility to appeal a theory test result if a candidate is unhappy with the result. Candidates can request a rescore of the Driver Theory Test by calling 0818 606 106 and complete an online appeals form
which must be completed within 10 working days of the theory test. The fee for this process is €15.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
