Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science if there are plans to review the pay, terms and conditions of personal assistants who work with students with additional needs who are undertaking level five and six courses in educational institutions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the claims being made by personal assistants directly employed by ETBs and by FORSA for improved terms and conditions for these workers who are currently paid on an hourly rate basis. My officials are currently engaging with FÓRSA representatives on this matter.
