Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for Finance if all sections of all Acts passed in the past ten years have been commenced; the number of sections that are outstanding; the number of Acts that have review periods; if the reviews have taken place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerIt has not been possible in the time available to compile an updated list of the information sought in the Deputy's PQ. My officials will revert in writing to the Deputy when this is ready. Please note however that where the Oireachtas has chosen to provide a discretion to a Minister to commence legislation the Oireachtas has decided it should not commence until the Minister chooses to exercise that discretion in favour of commencement. The non-commencement to date of any legislative provisions is a matter of discretion for the relevant Minister and should not be characterised as a delay.
