Questions (191)

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

191. Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 203 of 23 February 2023, when the memorial plaque for the Great Irish Famine, which is already in the possession of the OPW, will be put in an appropriate prominent place at the Custom House, Dublin, given that the exhibition in the Custom House visitor centre does not afford An Gorta Mór the significance it deserves in the narrative. As the Deputy will be aware from to my reply to Parliamentary Question No 203 of 23rd February, the design of a memorial plaque for An Gorta Mór (the Great Irish Famine) is being finalised at present and, once completed, will form part of the overall visitor experience. The next phase will be to determine a suitable location for installation of the memorial plaque within the Custom House Visitor Centre. An announcement will issue in due course once design and installation have been finalized.
