Question:

266. Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the total number of construction technical professionals, including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and so on, employed by his Department, or public bodies under the aegis of his Department, to oversee construction projects on behalf of public bodies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There were 32 construction technical professionals serving in my Department at the end of March 2023. These staff are spread primarily across the Housing Policy Legislation and Governance Division and the Social Housing Delivery Division. My Department does not project manage individual projects, however these staff support a wide range of activity including development of guidance, standards, advisory service, and approval process for construction schemes being delivered by Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies.
