Under Climate Action Plans 2021 and 2023, the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate and Climate Action Framework for the Commercial Semi-State Sector also apply to relevant bodies under the aegis of my Department. While the SEAI and NewEra are responsible for reporting on the implementation of the Mandate and Framework, respectively, my Department engages regularly with the relevant bodies to provide information and support on the application of their requirements, such as the development of Climate Action Roadmaps this year.

My Department and the relevant bodies under the aegis of my Department have been reporting on their annual energy data to the SEAI since 2009. According to the 2022 Public Sector Performance Report, the DTCAGSM group had achieved a 52% reduction in energy consumption and a 25% reduction in total GHG emissions by 2021, putting us on track for our 2030 targets.

Detailed data from the relevant bodies is published annually on the SEAI's website: www.seai.ie/business-and-public-sector/public-sector/monitoring-and-reporting/public-sector-results/

While I have not directed any of the relevant bodies under the aegis of my Department to produce a report under Section 15(2) of the Climate Action Low Carbon Development Act, as amended, I can assure the Deputy that the bodies under the aegis of my Department are critically aware of the need to meaningfully address climate change, and are working closely with me and my Department to contribute to our ambition and targets on climate action.
