Invalidity pension (IP) is a payment for people who are permanently incapable of work because of illness or incapacity and for no other reason and who satisfy the pay related social insurance (PRSI) contribution conditions.
The number of people receiving Invalidity Pension (IP) at end of May 2023 was 56,177.
The following table provides a breakdown of persons in receipt of IP by gender:
