The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has responsibility for collating information on the number of enterprises which close each year as part of its work in developing and maintaining the Central Business Register. The register is developed using data provided by the Companies Registration Office (CRO) and the Revenue Commissioners. The CSO, in line with its legal obligations under Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 and Regulation (EU) 2020/119, is currently preparing a submission to Eurostat for business demography for the year 2021 which includes the information requested by the Deputy. I have, therefore, asked the CSO to provide you with the information you requested for all available years as soon as possible after the submission of the data and no later than 30 days after this reply.
