The correspondence to which the Deputy refers is currently under consideration and a response will issue in due course.

The HSE's National Women & Infants Health Programme (NWIHP) is progressing the development of a National Endometriosis Framework, which will identify how care for women in this area will be delivered, with this care spanning primary care to local hospital care to specialist complex care. It should be noted that this Framework was developed in conjunction with endometriosis specialists and gynaecologists. It is built around the principle of “right care, right place, right time”, and its Model of Care proposes that women with symptoms of endometriosis be treated on the basis of a presumed diagnosis.

This is a significant development in the approach to endometriosis care, as it ensures women will receive timely, effective treatment at the appropriate level of intervention. The NWIHP has advised that it is planned to publish the Framework in September 2023.
