Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline his plans to tackle the huge increase in the number of non-registered hairdressers; and if he will acknowledge that they have a competitive advantage against those hairdressers paying commercial rates. It is unclear as to what registration process the Deputy is referring to. Self-employed persons must register with Revenue for tax purposes. Questions regarding Revenue’s enforcement measures would be a matter for the Minister for Finance. I am happy to answer further questions from the Deputy where they relate to any process under my Department’s remit.
