1244. Deputy Danny Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if it is part of the Government policy that Teagasc are suggesting that the suckler herd will have to be reduced by 29% by 2030; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [37227/23]
View answerThe figure referred to by the deputy is an economic projection, using the Teagasc FAPRI-Ireland model of the Irish agricultural economy, of how farming suckler cows will, in aggregate, evolve in response to economic signals over the period to 2030. This baseline projection assumes no change in agricultural or other policy that directly affects agricultural production in Ireland or the EU.
