716. Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the number of data breaches experienced by his Department in each of the past ten years and to date in 2023. [42367/23]
View answerPlease see below in tabular form the number of data breaches that occurred in my Department since its formation in 2020 and to date in 2023, and the numbers which were reported to the Data Protection Commission (DPC). In line with DPC guidance, the remainder were deemed not to meet the threshold that would require reporting to the DPC due to the nature of the particular risk they represented and as such notification of the DPC was not undertaken.
